New Profile Format Rollback

Buenas tardes,

So you've probably noticed we rolled back to the former version of your profile. We changed it back mid-day yesterday (Feb 17th). Clearly we needed to tweak it a little more.

But, I'm wondering...was it really that bad after we changed it around? We moved the profile to be at the top of the page, and we hid your friends if you had that option selected.

Did anyone like it? Take the poll and let us know.

We got a lot of feedback that other things needed fixed, and this was all a waste of time. Trust me, we hear you. We moved data centers recently and wheeled in a boat load of new servers. IMC and Chat will get better. While that team is working on managing data, another team is working on updating the site. I promise that the design team isn't made up of blind monkeys, only a few of them are.

I'm agreeing with wanting again. A profile has to visually appealing and easy to use. To have scroll bars within a page that you already need to use a scroll bar is more than most care to do.

The layout always needs to promote the primary goals of the profile first.

I recommend a panel of members. Random or selected, to give feedback on proposed cosmetic changes. That's what advertising and programming companies do. Why? Because it helps. Like Events does with the contests. Granted, you won't always get a consensus, but you will get an idea of what is more acceptable and you will get constructive feedback from the people that actually use it.

I am becoming more and more convinced that each department of the site has a narrow view of what goes on here that they don't or can't look at the big picture. They may understand the rudiments of the site, but the people that navigate it day in and day out are a valuable resource that the site does not tap into. I think most members would love to contribute thoughts and ideas as long as they know they are being heard.

So often I read through the different site support blogs and it's the same people over and over reporting problems and providing feedback. We do that because we are using it and have ideas that might just help or lead to other ideas. These same members take their own personal time to voice these opinions because we do want to make it better, which I believe has the potential for more paying memberships, which I assume is a goal of the site.

As for the "new" profile. After the change was made, it wasn't horrible. I still liked the original and am very glad it was put back.

Unless you are removing ANY privacy features you currently offer members, that should ALWAYS be figured into any new changes. That was just dumb on someone's part to have the recent activities of friends available to everyone.

I thought Events was a girl.

I didn't think the new profile was terrible, after it got fixed up. Some things I liked were the larger, modern-looking buttons to send flirts and kudos and stuff like that. I also liked the extra white space between sections. It seemed more organized and less haphazard than the old (now current) profiles. But it was definitely "boxier," which put a lot of people off.

Having our friends' information and our site activity duplicated in so many spots (or displayed at all) was a big mistake. The scrollbar within a larger screen was annoying, too.

But I don't think anyone should mess around with it again until they can actually do it without throwing so many other things into chaos. I think that if changes went more smoothly here, there would be a lot less uproar over them.

    Quoting community:
Yeah, the privacy issue was a real oversight. I don't think you'll see something like that happening again.

I know the site support blog has their scripted responses. They are mandated to answer everything, and sometimes there really is no good answer. Those guys sit next to me, I'll pass along the feedback.

Oh, and I'm Events too - Just FYI
You've been tardy. Might just have to send a note home to your mother.
I agree with Train. I thought you were a woman too. You have a great set of ta-tas.

Didn't know you are Event. I always thought was a team of female staff. Should show a male image.

I don't really mind the new look and nice to see a different look(but arrangement correctly and no friends activities to be show) even it might get a bit of time to get use to it. Also, it must be working properly. Only would be great if the introduction and bling collection not boxed up. But since you change it back to the old style, it is fine with me.

I agree with what AriesHot4BigCock is saying here.

I had seen site like myspace and some other site make changing to their profile look and some other activities or features. It also had created issue to use the site on some of the features just not work properly and take them some time to fix it and get it working.

Why did they bring back the new format. After most of us said we didn't want it? Also there is all our friends activities on it again. Was that not stated as a privacy issue?
