Something that I see used all the time that really irks me is the word "alot".

Which, as most everyone knows, isn't a word at all, yet I see it everywhere.

When I see it used in a sentence, I think what the poster (writer?) is tying to say is "a lot", in a way to mean "a large amount of something". I hardly ever see it used in place of "allot", when used to mean "to divide or distribute something into parts".

Unless the poster actually means the Indian town of Alot...

This "word" has been used for a long time, longer than any kind of "textspeak" came into existence. Granted, I'm far from being any kind of literary expert, and though I call myself a writer, I'd be nothing without the help of my grammar betas.

To your list, you could add that people are not using the past participle when they should be. In the last ten years, I've seen an upswing of people saying/typing "I have ran/I have drank/I have went," and the like. It should be "I have run/ I have drunk/I have gone."
