My Heartfelt Thanks. A Poem

When I go to you
What at first
Will you do?
Will you give
Me a hug?
Or a kiss?
Or both?
Or at least
Hold out your hand
For me to shake
And grip
Perhaps a squeeze
Of reassurance?

You see
I am not at ease.
I am full of butterflies
They are wreaking havoc
In my stomach
You can probably
Hear it grumbling.

I know you will
Do your best
You will make
Every attempt
To allay my uneasiness.
For that I will
Most probably smile
And nervously laugh
And give you
My heartfelt thanks.

 I hope he greets you with a
s l o w m o t i o n hug
and a squeeze for every
syllable in "it's really
great to finally meet you!"
Then grasps both hands
and motions your arms
in a way that evokes
a childhood memory of playing ring
around the posey and
looks you square in the eyes
and says "Are you blushing?"
and you counter with"no you
were stepping on my foot!"
and short giggle and off to
a little place for that
much needed white russian
with absolute and Maalox
for you and those butterflies.

Of course I'll just be
jumping up and down
like a kid trying to see
over a fence and the voice
in my head says"what are you
doing?"As I awake standing in
my backyard at 3 am and
find myself compelled to
answer,dreaming,Just dreaming!"
Using more than all the road!

I really love and appreciate your comments. They always make me think and almost always make me smile and laugh. You do have quite the imagination. Thank you for relaying your eccentric thought to me. 🙂
