The Infamous Gold Ball... As I arise back from the depths of busy college life, I give you...yes a rant. I spend a lot of time in the chatrooms here. (if you don't I highly recommend it!) Aside from the normal antics of the room that I normally visit, there is a considerably lopsided amount of what we call "Gold Ballers" in the room and 97% are women. Upon an inquiry a number of months ago, I've found that women after filling out certain questionaires for NoStrings have received silver and gold balls. Essentially getting a free gold or silver membership for a year. That's great, but obviously men don't get the same kind of option. I know it's a lopsided number of men vs. women on this site, but it would be nice for there to be some kind of option here or there and not just a "discount" or "pay $2.95 to see this person's profile!" crap. Being that I'm just here socially i.e. chatting and blogging occasionally and not "in the hunt" like most others here, give the guys a break NoStrings and throw them a freaking bone...no pun intended. and on another note, visit a chatroom and interact with people. (that doesn't mean come in post, "I'm naked on cam, etc." repetitively) lol. |

Here is how it works. If you are a woman or a couple, you are given the option of writing up a brief message, called an "icebreaker", which the site sends out to men who are new to the site. In exchange you are given a gold membership (presumably to make it easier to initiate contact if we want). Men are the primary audience of this service. A man has the choice of paying for a membership or, if he chooses not to, he can pay for every profile he wants to view. Look on the bright side, up until a few months ago, there wasn't even a pay per view option, it was either buy a membership or nothing. As you mention, if you are a Standard member and what to interact with women who you can be sure of as being real (as opposed to bots and such), hen the chatrooms, groups and blogs are their best bet. I'm not sure how this is crap or what kind of bone you want the site to throw you. Is there something specific you would want them to do for you?

As I mentioned in the blog there should be some kind of option that men can take part in so that we can essentially get the same kind of membership. It's not something the site should do for just me, its for all of us men on here. The fact being it's nowhere near a balanced approach, for filling out an "icebreaker" as I said women/couples get a FREE 1 year gold membership...last year women got something similar for a 6 month silver membership. Meanwhile we (men) just get a discount...hence my point, is the site ACTUALLY set up for men to succeed in hooking up? Or is it women/couples? Because it's pretty one sided for women/couples in that case, there isn't a fair representation of options for men. Except to exploit us for money paid memberships that the other groups get for free.
