Effects of the Media

Fist off, for those who've been asking.....
skiing was fantastic this past weekend. The snow was amazing. I skied long and hard all weekend. And if you ever need to find running water under snow, just follow me! I skied through it, over it and in it! LOL! My friends were laughing at me all day Sunday cuz I kept winding up in the stream. Something about me and being wet............ go figure.

Effects of Advertising:
This morning as I was getting ready for the day I began to realize how susceptible I am to advertising. I have a moisturizer for under my eyes, another one for my face, one for just my upper arms that is supposed to help with keratosis pilaris, a special moisturizer for my feet, another for my hands, one that matches the scent of my body wash and body spray which I use on my neck and chest and finally an all over body moisturizer (seriously, what's left? My legs?) 7 different moisturizers!
I mean, seriously..........is this necessary?
Come to think of it I probably have 7+ different types/flavors of lube.

My friend Rhonda has 6 different types of vinegar to put on her salad. Mona has 8 different ski jackets and Lea has a room full of shoes.

How about you? What products have you become an excessive consumer of?

SC...
You had to ask this question didn't you!

CD's (1000+)
Books (300+)
Guitars (20+)
Amplifiers (10+)
Die cast models (40+)
Guns (20+)
Beatles stuff (CD's, albums, books, pics, etc)
T shirts (100+)

Ok... this is now appearing to be a OCD so I'll stop here!

Here's winking back attcha hot stuff!

Watches......very unhealthy habit. I can help with the moisturizers. Fyi, I started skiing after a 21 year lay off. I have been four times in the last 11 days. My favorite so far, Okemo.

Yeah YOU! Although you sure did pick a lousy winter to start skiing again.

okay the lube makes sense, different flavors, it's all good. The Ski Jackets, a Little Excessive, but I Must Have At Least Half a Dozen Winter Coats for Different Times. The moisturizers? I bet if you look every one of them has mineral oil as its basic ingredient!!

I think the whole advertising thing is more when you take a look at two products, and when you know one better (b/c of ads) you choose that one or feel somehow that generics are inherently inferior.

But hey, were all conspicuous consumers!

The skin under my eyes is completely different from the skin on my heels (at least in texture anyway) so it makes sense that I need different moisturizers, doesn't it? (rationalizing)

But I DID notice how you managed to avoid answering the question. And don't think you can use your cast as an excuse.

A. "Something about me and being wet...go figure."

Hmmm...

B. "Come to think of it I probably have 7+ different types/flavors of lube."

Hmmm...

A + B = C you in about 30 minutes!

To answer your question I have absolutely too many ties and cuff links - the numbers are quite embarrassing. I curse the day I discovered eBay and its evil 'buy it now' option.

I've got some ideas about how we can put some of those older ties to good use!

One for every type of fish???
Pretty much yes, plus some antiques, some just old and loads of spares!

And by the way to save ionly the trouble, yes Boots is the UK's leading high street pharmacy, (we call them "chemists" ) with branches in every town in the country.
I said all this before but for some reason it didn't post. Probably find tow of them when I put this up now.
Dreamer.

Yes the skiing has been fabulous this year. Best snow in last ten years. Right now I've become an excessive consumer of Ski Lift tickets. (I'm also fighting with the dry skin battle.)
Let's go skiing right now!
